FAQ
Where do I start if the report feels like a lot?
Three moves. Open Brand Perception and read the one-sentence summary at the top — it tells you the single biggest thing. Then go to Topics & Prompts and find the topic where you’re trailing competitors by the most. Then open Actions and do the top one. That’s a complete loop, and you can repeat it.
How often should I run a report?
Monthly is a good rhythm for most teams. The answer engine’s view of you shifts as new pages get published and your own content changes, and a fresh report every month lets you see whether the work you did moved anything. Run one sooner if you’ve just shipped a big content push and want to check its effect.
What’s a credit?
Credits are what you spend to build a report. A heavier audit draws more credits than a focused one, and rerunning an audit costs the same as building it the first time. Loading a previous plan doesn’t change the cost — it just keeps the topics consistent so the two reports compare cleanly. Billing & Credits covers where credits come from and how to get more.
Can I rerun a report and compare it to last time?
Yes — that’s the point of running them regularly. From a report’s menu you can build a fresh version of the same audit, or set it to rerun monthly on its own. Once an audit has more than one run, compare any version with an earlier baseline. See Comparing versions.
Who can do what in my organization?
It depends on your role. Owners and admins manage people, approvals, and billing; creators build reports; members can view shared reports and request one. Account & Organization breaks down each role.
Can I use my reports inside ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Palmata runs an MCP server, so you can connect it to ChatGPT, Claude, or another MCP client and ask questions about your reports there. Access is read-only. See Connect to your AI assistant.
Why don’t you give me one number?
Because one number hides the thing you need. A brand mentioned everywhere with a flat verdict and a brand cited often but described poorly could share the same score for opposite reasons, and they need opposite work. We measure three things — whether you’re mentioned, whether your own pages are cited, and whether the take is positive — so you can tell which problem you actually have. Concepts walks through it.
Can I point the audit at something specific?
Yes. When you create a report, add steering instructions — a sentence about the corner you care about, like “focus on enterprise positioning” or “we sell to legal teams.” The audit builds a plan around that and shows it to you before it runs, so you can adjust. See Getting started.
How do you decide what questions to ask?
We research your business first — how and where you compete, who your buyers are, and how your customers and prospects actually talk about your products. Then we use that to ask the answer engine the kinds of questions those buyers would, so the report reflects real buying situations instead of a keyword list. Concepts covers why this matters.
My brand was mentioned. Why does the report still say I’m losing here?
Being mentioned isn’t the same as being recommended. A mention with a lukewarm or skeptical take works against you, and the report counts it that way. Open the question in Prompt detail to read exactly what the answer engine said and see whether the mention helped or hurt.
A report failed. Did I lose the credit and the work?
No. Open the report and you’ll see two options. Resume picks up from where it stopped, keeping the work already done. Restart runs it again from the beginning. Most of the time, Resume is what you want.
